Three Questions to Jörn Hellwig, CEO Blue Wings:
Mr Hellwig, up to now Blue Wings has been a classic Charter airline, which has mainly been flying to Turkey on behalf of Öger Tours . Why are you now also offering scheduled flights to Russia?
Jörn Hellwig: We are very content with the cooperation with Öger and we will still extend it. At the same time we are putting into action what we have long worked for. Russia is a highly attractive market with high growth rates.
First Blue Wings offers flights from Dusseldorf to Moscow and St. Petersburg. How important for you is the Rhine-Ruhr region?
Jörn Hellwig: Very important! On the one hand Dusseldorf airport is an attractive turnstile. On the other hand in North-Rhine-Westphalia there is a high concentration of business travellers who are flying in the East, especially to Moscow and St. Petersburg. We therefore meet a demand.
Which extensions of your offer of scheduled flights are planned for the short and medium term?
Jörn Hellwig: At the beginning we are concentrating on countries of the former Soviet Union. So for us one of the next destinations could be the Russian Sochi at the Black Sea, where in 2014 the Olympic Winter games will take place. Moreover in the Ukraine the towns of Kiev and - situated on the Crimea Simferopol.
